I discovered Maureen Short’s outstanding cards in a local Book Shop so many years ago. 

I was instantly taken by Maureen’s remarkable photography depicting every aspect of life in Australia, not to mention the layout, size and individual packaging of each card.

 

From native animals, sea creatures and wildflowers to fabulous harbour views and landscape vistas, these cards are really quite exceptional.

 

My American and Japanese friends look forward  to receiving my special Christmas gift each year of  a  dozen of Maureen’s cards which I mix, wrap and post off  early enough for them to use for their own Christmas Greetings.

Dear Maureen,

 

I’m from Wagga Wagga, well The Rock (35 Km south of Wagga to be precise). Anyway, I’m in Sydney for a couple of weeks because I had to spend some time in a city hospital. I decided to find a newsagency to get some post cards to send off to my wife and kids and a couple of other friends around the place. If I’m away from home for any period of time I like to send a post card or two off because my kids and some of my friends love getting a photo combined with a few words from the old man/mate.

 

I went into a newsagency at St Leonards Plaza expecting the usual garden variety posties, which there was, but then I discovered you’re handmade posties. Well. I reckon they’re brilliant, so much so that I blew the budget and bought half a dozen to send off. Now I’m thinking of buying some more of them to put in small picture frames to brighten up my desk at work.

 

I’m also going to pass you’re web address onto my mother-in-law and one of my daughters who says that she wants to be a professional photographer. I’m in no doubt that you’re work will give them some ideas/inspiration.

 

Anyway keep at it Maureen, its really good stuff.
